3D Print Takes the Fashion and Beauty Industry
Chanel’s 3D Mascara Brush, The First of Its Kind…
Did you know that Chanel are now producing mascara brushes that have been entirely 3D printed? When the brush penetrated the market, it was the first of its kind to be produced on an industrial scale. Chanel collaborated with Erpro Group, a 3D printing service provider based in Paris, to create the mascara brush. Erpro Group have expertise in technologies such as SLA, SLS, SLM printing, 3D scanning and ABS deposition. They also own a vast range of 3D printers.
There is a target of one million brushes to be produced per month. However, they are using six 3D printers which are collectively capable of producing up to 50,000 brushes a day! The printers use selective laser sintering (SLS) in order to create the brushes that print successive layers of a polyamide powder, polymerized with a laser beam.
