It is no secret that at 3ecruit we love all things 3d, not just 3d printing, also scanning, virtualisations, 3d design and augmented reality. See below an article we found on augmentedrealitytrends.com...Amazing to see these technologies being introduced in products we use and require on a daily basis in the very near future.
The first auto manufacturer to present head-up display on a wide-scale production car was BMW. So it is very natural that BMW will introduce augmented reality feature in its cars which will assist the drivers. Earlier it was thought that the first BMW series to use augmented reality will be the new 2016 G11 7 Series. However, this feature was not there when the series was launched. Now, according to a new report from Spain, the first car to use this feature will be the forthcoming G30 5 Series. It will have an augmented reality head-up display system and will move up to 80km/h autonomously.
Use of Augmented Reality
Augmented reality technology will be available in the series from the second half of 2017. It will be used with the “Business Professional” browser. By combining the head-up display with the AR browser, the total system will provide different functions apart from a wonderful driving experience.
With the new AR system, the data will be displayed on the windshield before the car approaches a destination. Data like distance to the vehicle ahead, point of route, cross roads, points with low visibility, people and objects that are on the road or in blind spots, direction of a curve and other data will be shown. What’s even better is that all these data will be provided in real time.
Autonomous Driving System
A new assistance system is being developed by BMW which will provide the drivers with autonomous driving system. It will work up to a maximum of 80km/h. The BMW 5 series will also have self-parking facility and autonomous function of changing lanes.
In short, BMW is gearing up to provide the drivers with features which will give them the maximum assistance while driving.
Other features that will be available in the BMW 5 Series include an adaptive air suspension that provides dynamic driving conditions that will also be able to recognize bumps in the road, even during the night. Laser lights will be an optional choice for the drivers while there will be full LED lights. A new iDrive screen will be there inside the cabin and can be controlled using touch and gestures.
